My new commission will “make West Midlands a global capital of green manufacturing” - Liam Byrne

Shadow Mayor of the West Midlands, Liam Byrne, has today (Monday, November 23th) launched a new Commission to help make the West Midlands a global capital of green manufacturing.

The Shadow Mayor will be advised by a nine strong Commission of experts drawn from across sectors, with unparalleled national and cross-regional expertise.

Liam Byrne, Labour’s Shadow Mayor for the West Midlands, has called on Ministers to make the West Midlands the home for a new car-battery making Gigafactory as part of the region’s economic recovery. Byrne’s call comes as the Labour Party challenges the government to ‘Build it in Britain’ and support the creation of 400,000 jobs - including in the crucial manufacturing sector - through a green recovery from the Covid crisis.
