I am pleased to report that new figures from the House of Commons Library show that unemployment continues to fall in Hodge Hill. This is thanks to the Council's Birmingham Jobs Fund but there is still work to be done - there are still too many people looking for work in our area.
You can see the figures below.
The total number of unemployed claimants in Birmingham, Hodge Hill constituency in March 2016 was 3,868.
I am in Strasbourg this week taking part in the UK delegation to the Council of Europe. Although this means I wasn't able to take part in this morning's important Westminster Hall debate on Unaccompanied Children in Parliament. Instead, I've just made the following speech to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, you can read the full text below.
Great news; Nansen Primary and Rockwood Academy, formerly Park View, have both been removed from Special Measures and are now rated "good" by Ofsted.

Birmingham MPs will today use the Budget debate to protest at the Government’s £100 million ‘Birmingham Bombshell’ of unfair cuts and tax rises hitting the city.
They will argue that the government has promised a fairer funding deal for Birmingham but has refused to introduce this for yet another year, resulting in more unfair cuts.
