I write to you on behalf of my constituents who have writen to me with regards to the plight of the minority Muslim population in Burma who are faced with the gravest threat to their human rights. According to the United Nations, the threat of sectarian violence and torture has led to some 10,000 of them fleeing to neighbouring Bangladesh. This is a huge concern to me, and to my constituents. We must use our voice to stop the violence.

I would be most grateful if you could advise me what our Government is doing to bring about an end to the violence against minority populations in Myanmar and to ensure that the rights of the Muslim community are respected- including protections against rape, torture, ethnic cleansing and population displacement.

I look forward to hearing from you shortly.
