The Conservative Government has once again let down East Birmingham and North Solihull

FOR IMMEDIATE USE The Conservative Government has once again let down East Birmingham and North Solihull by rejecting every one of Birmingham’s bids to the Levelling Up Fund.   Despite the world-leading work at Tyseley Energy Park ministers have turned down our Levelling Up bid showing they lack ambition for our city and our country. Liam Byrne MP said  “Birmingham has the worst unemployment in Britain and the highest rates of child poverty and fuel poverty.  “Yet today the Tories rejected all of Birmingham’s five bids for Levelling Up – and handed millions to the Rishi Sunak’s patch instead. Its pure self-interest over the national interest “The Tories plan for Levelling Up is now pure Bullingdon Club economics – smash up the economy and throw a few quid on the table to apologise. But now to add insult to injury they have denied the cash to Britain’s poorest places. “You cannot level up the UK without levelling up East Birmingham, the capital of unemployment in the UK. Today’s news shows that Levelling Up is nothing more than a slogan.” END
