Recently, I received an email from a constituent who invited me to an International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) event next week on Tuesday. Unfortunately, due to prior parliamentary commitments, I will be unable to attend the event.

I am in Strasbourg this week taking part in the UK delegation to the Council of Europe. Although this means I wasn't able to take part in this morning's important Westminster Hall debate on Unaccompanied Children in Parliament. Instead, I've just made the following speech to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, you can read the full text below.

The Prime Minister has today agreed to look again at the plight of unaccompanied children stranded in Calais following a question from Liam Byrne MP in the House of Commons.

Byrne demands answers on children stranded in Calais

Liam Byrne MP has demanded answers from the Home Secretary on what the Government is doing to help those child refugees stranded in Calais on their own.

There are currently around 150 unaccompanied children in the Calais camp with direct relatives in the UK.
