Dear friends,

I thought you might be interested in an exciting new opportunity for 16-25 years olds to gain a free level 1 qualification in Sports Leadership.

The course is being offered by Sport 4 Life, a local Birmingham charity who aim to change the lives of disadvantaged young people between the ages of 12 and 25.

I am in Strasbourg this week taking part in the UK delegation to the Council of Europe. Although this means I wasn't able to take part in this morning's important Westminster Hall debate on Unaccompanied Children in Parliament. Instead, I've just made the following speech to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, you can read the full text below.

Dear friends,

I thought I would share with you all some figures I received from the House of Commons Library.

The total number of unemployed claimants in Birmingham, Hodge Hill constituency in February 2016 was 3,814.

This represents a rate of 8.5% of the economically active population aged 16 to 64, the 4th highest of the 650 UK constituencies. (1st = highest claimant rate, 650th = lowest claimant rate.) The equivalent UK claimant rate was 2.5%.
